El Gobierno acorta los plazos para las primeras y más urgentes reformas que se había fijado para acometer en el primer trimestre del año. Mariano Rajoy ha aprovechado para poner fechas de Consejo de Ministros para la reforma laboral, la reestructuración del sistema financiero y el control legal del déficit público: entre la última reunión del Gobierno de este mes (28 de enero) y las dos primeras de febrero (viernes 3 y 10).

Rajoy no quiso precisar el orden en que el Consejo de Ministros aprobará los correspondientes proyectos de ley, pero sí que al menos una de las reformas estará en un texto articulado antes de la reunión extraordinaria del Consejo Europeo del día 30 y que antes de mediados de febrero también serán aprobadas las otras dos. Será un adelanto de más de mes y medio sobre el calendario legislativo que el jefe del Ejecutivo anunció en su debate de investidura del día 19 de diciembre, lo que da idea de las prisas que le han entrado a Rajoy una vez que tiene conocimiento real y directo de la situación de las cuentas del Estado, los recelos de los mercados y la crisis general de la zona euro.

El jefe del Ejecutivo descartó la posibilidad de que esta misma semana el Consejo de Ministros tuviera lista la reforma del mercado laboral, aunque sí dejó claro que será un hecho "en las próximas fechas". Y retomó su estilo enigmático al abordar el orden de los proyectos de ley: "alguna estará para el día 27".

Van Rompuy expresó su apoyo a los primeros pasos dados por Rajoy al frente del Gobierno y elogió además los siguientes anuncios, ya con adelantos incluidos. También compartió con el jefe del Ejecutivo español el principio de que las reformas, los ajustes presupuestarios y las medidas contra el déficit son imprescindibles y en algún caso una “emergencia” para hacer frente a la crisis económica, pero que no basta, que también es urgente el crecimiento y planes de fomento del empleo. Ambos mandatarios coincidieron en que es necesario encontrar un "termino medio" entre los ajustes, las reformas y las medidas de expansión.

En esa línea insistió el presidente del Gobierno para argumentar que la economía nacional está tan necesitada de normas de austeridad, techos de gasto y medidas contra el déficit como de cerrar de una vez la reestructuración del sistema financiero para que fluya el crédito.
